Who were the Most Popular Authors in 1999?

These were the most popular authors, based on circulation figures, in 1999. The headliners are childrens picture book authors, and mystery and other popular fiction authors. There's been some shifting around among the top slots. Barbara Kingsolver, Larry McMurtry, and Shakespeare are the (highest circulating) literary authors to appear in the list, and no non-fiction authors are near the top this year.
