February 20 Steel on the Skyline The architect's notes are just in, and include the following: Steel studs are up along the north wall of the building. Structural steel is being erected throughout the building. The retaining wall along Country Club was poured. Two of the cistern pads have been poured. A meeting of the cistern suppliers, landscape architect, and architect will be convened at the project site in the near future to discuss the submittals. Details for the layout of the South Patio and Children’s Patio were reviewed. There were comments and these are being finalized.

February 6 Structural steel will be delivered this week. We'll never see it whole in the same way again. The architect's notes this week: "a. Water tie-in and sewer tie-in are under way. b. Segmented retaining wall is mostly complete, with the exception that the faces have been reversed at the northern portion and the southern portion ends abruptly and is not in connection with the existing contours. c. Structural steel will be arriving this week. Steel studs are on site and framing will be starting this week. d. Cistern C and D slabs have been poured. A and B slabs should be held off on until the Architect reviews the connection between the slab heights, cistern heights, and interconnection of the cisterns. Architect is requesting that the cistern in the Children’s patio, Cistern A, be increased by 12 inches. Additionally, how the clean-outs for the equalizing tube and overflow drains work should be reviewed."

January 27 Finally, pictures of concrete arcing down out of the sky... The architects' notes earlier in the week said "a. Plumbers are setting the floor drains based on the discussions with the Architect. The floor drains at the showers are recessed for a mortar bed. Other floor drains are set based on the slope from the corners of the bathrooms, as indicated on the drawings. b. Electricians are still working on under-slab work. Contractor expects to pour the remaining slabs Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, along with the retaining wall foundations and drop inlet." But the pictures, when they came, plainly show the big pour taking over all activity...

January 16 The Weather's More Like Spring We don't have architects' notes this week, only the photos; but clearly the sea of concrete which will underlie the floor is continuing to grow.
