I grew up in Santa Fe and returned as an adult in 2012 for a job as a general assignment reporter at the New Mexican. I’ve been a freelance journalist for the past 12 years and my husband and I have two kids, ages 8 and 12. I write regularly for the magazines division at the New Mexican and for a variety of local and national outlets; primarily about art, culture, and northern New Mexico.

I have early memories of the children’s room upstairs at Main library, of running up the stairs or pressing the button to the elevator and speed-walking to my favorite sections (and to check on the bears in the dollhouse). When my kids were babies, the library was one of the first places I brought them, too. Our library system is an important community hub with resources for all citizens; serving on the library board and helping to ensure and expand access is privilege and a responsibility I take seriously. (It’s also fun and rewarding to work with others who share those goals for our library!)

Two of my favorite books are Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion and Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh.
