I moved to Santa Fe in 2018, after living a number of places over the years, including Virginia, Colorado and Nevada. I have been in the IT profession for 50 years, and continue to work as an IT consultant for the State of New Mexico Department of Information Technology.
Growing up in Arlington, Virginia I learned to really love and rely on the public library as a safe place to fill my curiosity of the world. As an adult I joined the Library Board of the City of Lafayette, Colorado where I was lucky to be part of a team to raise awareness and funding to build a new library in the city and see it come to completion. Upon moving back to Virginia, I joined the Library Board for Madison County. Madison County Virginia is one of four counties where the county does not fund the library. Our team worked to ensure state funding continued in addition to various fundraising events to keep the library going.
Picking a favorite book is like picking your favorite child, it’s a challenge. As a history nut I would have to say that the Memoirs of U.S. Grant and Beyond the One Hundredth Meridian by Wallace Stegner are my top 2 favorite books.
