UNEARTH A STORY with Wendy Rule

Part of the Santa Fe Public Library's Summer Reading program! Unearth a Story at SFPL this Summer!

WENDY RULE

Blurring the line between music, theatre, and ritual, Visionary Songstress Wendy Rule weaves her dark-ambient mystical songs along pathways of Magic and mythology. With her extraordinary voice and heartfelt lyrics, she invites her audience on an immersive journey of depth and passion.

Over the past three decades, Wendy has released thirteen albums and numerous side projects, and has toured the world extensively — both as a musician and as a celebrated educator in Pagan spirituality. A dedicated live performer, she continues to grow her loyal global fanbase. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Wendy relocated to the USA in 2014 and now lives in the beautiful countryside of Northern New Mexico. This setting offers daily inspiration from wild Nature — the beating heart of her creative and spiritual life.

Wendy's 2024 album Meadowlark is a luminous celebration of the land she calls home — a folk-driven collection that embraces the Nature and Magic of her beloved New Mexico. Featuring lush arrangements by her son Reuben Bloxham (of acclaimed Melbourne band RVG) and close collaborators Carisa Melado and Andrew Dalziell from the LA-based darkwave band Night Tongue, Meadowlark reveals a tender and intimate side of Wendy's songwriting.

"Connection with Nature is at the core of my spiritual practice," Wendy explains. "After the epic mythic journey of my last double album Persephone, I needed to emerge from the Underworld, come up for air, and embrace the powerful Magic of my immediate environment. Most of the songs on Meadowlark were born on hikes through the nearby wilderness, or while watching the sky from my porch with a guitar in hand."

In 2025, Wendy released Darkness and Light, an ambient meditation album that further explores her deep relationship with Nature's cycles. This contemplative and atmospheric work offers listeners a rich soundscape for ritual, reflection, and stillness.
