Calling all Jane Austen fans! Come celebrate literary superstar Jane Austen’s 250th Birthday at the Southside Library. There will be a tea party, a sewing craft, period games, and a film screening. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
There will be a display in the library for discovering the rich collection of materials by Jane Austen or related to her work. In recent times, there have been a number of derivative works such as mystery series, parodies, modern day retellings, movie adaptations, and more.
Throughout the afternoon and evening you can enjoy tea and a variety of baked goods. You can try your hand at one of the period games or create a sewing craft to take with you. At 5:30 pm, we will screen the 1995 movie Sense and Sensibility, which features a star studded cast including Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman, and Hugh Grant.
BYOB (Bring your own bonnet)!
