Make a Book, Take a Book: A Book Arts Workshop for Children with Will Karp

Join Will Karp to learn how to make a book. Children and their families will have three simple book designs to choose from. All supplies will be provided.

Presenter Biography

New Englander Will Karp worked for many years in the aerospace industry in engineering and strategic business planning. Having dabbled in art for most of his life, he looked forward to the time when he could be a full time artist. He made a first step in this direction by operating a web design business, which he continued after moving to Santa Fe in 2004. A couple of years later, he decided to dive in to his lifelong passion for making visual art as his top priority.

In addition to working with illustration, painting, printmaking, photography, book arts and 3-dimensional work, Will looked to “legitimize” his credentials as an “artist.” He dove in and got a business license and then a few years later supplemented his BS and MBA degrees with an AA degree in Fine Arts from Santa Fe Community College in 2016.

Currently, he is deeply invested in our local Book Arts community. As past president of the Santa Fe Book Arts Group, he worked on promoting book arts as an innovative field of three-dimensional art.  Will considers myself very fortunate to benefit from the amazing support he has found from the arts community here. The beauty of New Mexico provides a unique opportunity to view and experience art with a whole new perspective, while expanding and challenging the boundaries of creativity.

Since working in Santa Fe, he has participated in more than 30 local and out-of-town juried art exhibits.  His artwork has won several awards and has been featured in many Santa Fe publications.
