FREEDOM TO READ, POWER TO WRITE
Join Kit Rosewater as she leads a roundtable discussion on the importance of protecting diversity in children's books and the freedom to read right here in New Mexico. Kit's journey as an advocate for the Freedom to Read New Mexico coalition has been aided and fed through her experiences in the academic world of children's literature and through the creative world as an author. She will share her framework for becoming a vocal and powerful advocate in your own community.
Kit Rosewater lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her partner and two small children. She is the author of the romances Buried Feelings and All's Fair in Love and Field Hockey, as well as the Derby Daredevils, an illustrated middle grade series. Kit has been a theater and English teacher, a bookseller, and a children's literature academic. She is the chairperson of the Freedom to Read New Mexico coalition, and advocates in schools and at the state legislature against book censorship.
