Turning Your Inner Critic Into Your Ally: A Workshop for Creatives
“Do you want to live under a bridge? Be an artist!!” “Writing a BOOK? Who do you think you are?” “Why don’t you get a NORMAL job?!!” Many artists and writers struggle with their inner critic— that persistent and pesky voice that always “knows what’s best”.
Particularly when it comes to creativity, the critic can be a source of doubt, stagnation, and creative block. But when understood and redirected, this inner nit-picker can actually help us in succeed in our creative pursuits.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the inner critic’s antics and perspective through gently transformational writing exercises in poetry and/or prose. With imaginative prompts, you’ll be invited to move toward forgiveness of the critic, and to cultivate a wiser, more collaborative version of this often challenging inner self.
This gathering is designed as a safe, nurturing, and completely non-judgmental space. Whether you’re a brand-new creative, a closeted writer, or an established artist seeking deeper self-understanding, you’ll find support, community, and tools to bring more freedom and confidence to your work.
