Call for Participation! Community Mail Art Exhibit

Gardening Is Poetry Is Art

Join a community mail art show that celebrates gardening and poetry.

It’s Spring! The Seed Library at the Southside Branch is opening soon, and we are very excited about gardening season. Santa Fe Public Library invites you to share your springtime joy and love of gardening by joining the Mail Art Exhibit in April.

Create a piece of handmade art on the theme of "Gardening Is Poetry Is Art". Mail your unframed art to Southside Library in an envelope via the Postal Service. The art that we receive will be displayed at Southside Library during the month of April 2026.

What type of artists might be able to participate in this community art show? Any artist who could put postage on the art and send it via the United States Postal Service. This could include poets, paper crafters, collage artists, digital artists, graphic designers, illustrators, painters, mixed media artists, photographers, creative writers, calligraphers, cartoonists, printmakers, and textile artists. There are three ways to ensure that we will be able to display your art.

  • Your piece of art must be flat and fit in an envelope. The size of the envelope is your choice.
  • We recommend that you create your art on a thick piece of paper, such as: cardstock, mixed media paper, watercolor paper, cardboard, or chipboard (the thin cardboard used for cereal boxes).
  • The art must be family-friendly.

Please send your small piece of art to:

Southside Library

6599 Jaguar Drive

Santa Fe, NM 87507

If you prefer, you can hand-deliver your art to Main Library, La Farge Library, or Southside Library, and staff will make sure that your art will be included in the Southside Library display.

"Gardening Is Poetry Is Art" exhibit will be displayed in the Southside Library lobby beginning April 1, and stay on display through the entire month of April. We are so excited to see what you send in!
