Meet local author Nancy Perez Fugere and illustrator Issa Nyaphaga, as they read and provide a live drawing demonstration of their lovely bilingual picture book, Mi Tia Cajeta ~ My Aunt Cajeta: a Story in Spanish and English.

Nancy Perez Fugere is a retired registered nurse whose literary journey began in the vibrant and close-knit Mexican American community of Compton, California, where she grew up cherishing the annual visits from her beloved Tía Cajeta every Christmas. These cherished memories and rich cultural experiences have inspired her debut book, which brings to life the warmth, tradition, and love of her upbringing. Mi Tía Cajeta is a testament to Nancy’s dedication to preserving and sharing her heritage. Through her writing, Nancy invites readers to experience the beauty of her family traditions and the essence of her Mexican American heritage.
Issa Nyaphaga is a cartoonist, and a multi-media artist based in the US, who is globally known as a human rights activist from Cameroon (West/central Africa). His work has inspired the human spirit of thousands in dozens of countries. Issa Nyaphaga is convinced that the power of art can save lives.
Book Kids will provide bilingual book giveaways, meet My Little Horse Listener's miniature horses, and make your own book craft with the Santa Fe Book Arts Group.

El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día, is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on April 30.
Día is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds (American Library Association). The intention of Día programming is to link children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures.
